Meet the minds behind Combat IQ, and what drove them to take on the challenge of building a one-of-a-kind platform for Combat IQ.

Tim Malik
Tim MalikChief Executive Officer & Founder

Tim has spent a number of years working at the highest level of professional sports as a Scout and Front Office Executive in Gridiron Football. Tim spent five years working with the Toronto Argonauts in a multitude of roles, getting an inside glimpse of how the most monetized sports on the planet operate. During this time, Tim was fortunate to win a Grey Cup championship with some of the most talented minds in pro football.

Additionally, through his employment under Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, one of the world’s most renowned sports ownership groups, Tim was able to get an understanding of how data was efficiently used to drive brand awareness and growth, creating a die-hard sports culture in the city of Toronto. Tim left the sports world in 2019, before pursuing wholesale distribution in navigating markets.

Tim brings an abundance of international experience, having lived, studied and worked in Canada, Greece, Taiwan, Pakistan, the U.A.E, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom. Tim’s time spent in these unique markets has given him a unique global lens that allows him to identify scalable problems, as well as implementing market expansion strategies.

Dr. Christian Giang

Chris is a machine learning researcher holding a PhD in Robotics and Intelligent Systems from EPFL as well as a BSc and a MSc in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Having graduated from two of the world’s best engineering schools, he has acquired a strong technical background and excellent problem-solving skills. He has led many research and development projects yielding highly-cited scientific publications as well as patent applications.

Growing up with a passion for combat sports, he has been practicing Karate since his childhood. He has participated in many high-level competitions, achieving top positions on 3 different continents, such as:

– 1st in 2010 OGKK Central American Karate Championship (Seniors)
– 2nd in 2012 Swiss Karate League (U21)
– 1st in 2014 Israeli University Championship (Seniors)
– 5th in 2016 German National Championship (Seniors).

His technical expertise as well as his experience as a former martial arts competitor provide him with the optimal combination of skills to tackle the technical challenges of the Combat IQ venture.
